Chapter One

The Beginning of Miles

Miles Petroleum was established in 1937 as a supplier of petroleum-based lubricants. The vision began with Jack Stern, who believed customers deserved superior products backed by dependable, personal service.

In the early years, oil and lubricants were delivered in steel containers resembling milk cans. Even then, Miles built its reputation on quality, reliability, and long-term relationships.

Chapter Two

A New Generation of Leadership

After working closely with his father, Morton Stern inherited the company in 1965 and guided Miles into a new era of expansion, formulation expertise, and technical advancement.

Under his leadership, Miles expanded its facilities, equipment, storage capacity, delivery fleet, and product formulations for automotive, hydraulic, metalworking, and industrial applications.

Chapter Three

Innovation Drives Expansion

Angela Stern became Executive Business Manager in 1985 and later President and CEO. During this period, Miles strengthened its engineering capabilities and expanded into increasingly advanced specialty products.

New engineers and specialists helped the company develop formulations for more demanding industries and high-performance applications.

Chapter Four

A National Brand Emerges

In 2014, Miles Lubricants LLC was established to answer growing nationwide demand and position the brand for the future.

The product portfolio expanded from conventional mineral oils into advanced synthetic technologies, PAO-based lubricants, esters, diesters, specialty fluids, and environmentally responsible solutions.

At the same time, Miles invested in logistics and technology, creating a flexible distribution network capable of serving customers across the United States.
